These frequently asked questions are often asked by parents of potential students:


Whether you aspire to play Bach or Billy Joel, Dallas Piano Academy's dedicated piano instructors will help you become the pianist you want to be. Our faculty will introduce you to the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, and incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons.

How old does my child need to be to begin piano lessons?
Students may begin piano lessons in Kindergarten. 
For families that would like to pursue piano lessons for younger children, we recommend a trial lesson to determine readiness or a summer pre-piano camp or our programs designed specifically for younger children

You are never too old to begin lessons! 

Do you teach music lessons to adults?

When do you teach? 
Every day of the week, by appointment.

Where are you located? 
Lessons are in the White Rock Lake area of Northeast Dallas, near the intersection of Northwest Highway and Plano Road, conveniently located to Lake Highlands and Lakewood. Online piano lessons are also available!

Do you have recitals?
Absolutely! Twice a year our students have the opportunity to perform in a beautiful hall with a grand piano. Unlike many competitors, we do not charge students a fee to perform, and admission is free! We also periodically offer the opportunity to perform in a special, one of a kind venue! Recitals are optional.  
How much does it cost to get started? 
A non-refundable registration fee is due, along with the first month’s tuition, and tuition is then collected in monthly installments. Please contact the studio for current rates. 
Are there any long-term commitments? 
Lessons may be discontinued at any time with written notice. Simply complete a withdrawal form by the 15th of your last month! All fees and tuition already paid are non-refundable.
Can I take piano lessons on a keyboard?
This is probably one of our most frequently asked questions! You do not need a piano at home to take lessons; a simple full-size electronic keyboard will suffice. Many students begin lessons on a keyboard. When shopping, look for k
eyboards that are full sized, with graded and weighted keys.

How old does my child need to be to begin flute lessons?
Flute students should preferably be 11 years or older.

I need a flute. Where can I buy one? 
Visit the Carolyn Nussbaum Music Company for expert help selecting the best flute available within your budget is highly recommended. They will take good care of you! If you would prefer to rent a flute, I can recommend a dealer in your area.

Guitar Lesson frequently asked questions

How old does my child need to be to begin guitar lessons?
Guitar students should preferably be 10 years or older.

I need a guitar. Does it matter if it is electric or acoustic?  
You can take guitar lessons on either electric or acoustic instruments - your choice! 

Voice lesson frequently asked questions

Do you teach voice lessons to children and adults? 
Yes! Voice lessons are available for children through adults! 

What type of voice lessons do you teach?

Lessons are available six days a week, and scheduled once a week. A registration fee is due annually.
